Seth Jones’ Milestone Game & Philipp Kurashev Contribution

Seth Jones had a memorable night as well, scoring a goal and two assist in his 800th NHL match. Philipp Kurashev contributed another goal to the Blackhawks tally to help the team improve its early-season score to 1-1-1. Petr Mrazek, the Blackhawks goaltender, also put in a great performance. He deflected 35 shots.

The Oilers’ season started off with a disappointing performance. Despite Corey Perry’s and Leon Draisaitl’s goals, the Oilers fell to a 0-2 mark. Oilers’ first two games of the season have seen them fall to a 11-2 deficit. This is after they reached the Stanley Cup final’s Game 7, only to lose it to the Florida Panthers. Calvin Pickard, the Oilers’ goalie, ended the night with a total of 15 saves.

On the Blackhawks side, Taylor Hall recorded an assist, bringing his career total to eight points (2G, 6A) in 12 games against the Oilers— the team that drafted him first overall in 2010. Four former first-round picks were in the game: Hall, Bedard and Connor McDavid for Chicago and Ryan Nugent Hopkins and Ryan Nugent for Edmonton.

Oilers’ defenseman Brett Kulak played his 500th NHL game. The 30-year old has been a reliable character since he joined Edmonton from Montreal during the 2022 NHL deadline. He’s played in all 184 possible regular season games as well as 53 playoff games.

This streak is longer than Connor McDavid’s 15-game streak versus New Jersey. It is the longest active streak in the NHL.
